Chapter awards are designed to recognize chapters that are working to build a well rounded chapter. These chapters create an organized structure in order to provide opportunities for all members to learn, lead and serve. These awards are formally reviewed and ranked at the state award and degree check held in June of each year.
Golden Horizon
The Golden Horizon Chapter Recognition program is a state level award to provide a measurement tool for chapter officers and advisors and
recognize chapters who succeed in involving a large number of members in the diverse array of activities available through the FFA. This award recognizes a well-rounded local FFA chapter with an inclusive, progressive, aggressive program of activities that promotes maximum participation in order to deliver the leadership component of agricultural education.
Chapters are recognized within Single Teacher and Multiple Teacher divisions. Chapters are placed into Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, with the top 25% of chapters in each division receiving a Gold Ranking. Gold rated chapters are recognized on stage during the Texas FFA Convention.
Reporting Period: June 1 – May 31
Since no elimination is held at the area level, chapters are encouraged to make amendments to reflect achievement and participation that may occur in the month of May. Area coordinators should verify all information claimed in the applications.
National Chapter Award
The National Chapter Award program
is designed to award FFA chapters who actively implement the FFA mission and strategies. These chapters improve chapter operations by using a Program of Activities (POA), which emphasizes student development, chapter development and community development. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for their entire membership. Chapters should apply for this award to let the public know the chapter’s accomplishments, receive recognition for members’ efforts and develop pride in the chapter.
Measurable success is key to success in the National Chapter Award evaluation process. Chapters should have clear objectives and some documented, objective yardstick to gauge success of programs highlighted in the application.

Advisors seeking to improve their chances in this award program should plan to attend the award selection and degree check to determine what revisions should be made before their applications move on to national competition.
