Agri-Entrepreneurship

Agri-Entrepreneurship Award

Agri-Entrepreneurship.jpgThe Agri-Entrepreneurship Awards honor FFA members who have recognized a market opportunity that was overlooked by others and conceived a plan to pursue that opportunity.    The Agri-Entrepreneurship Education Program is designed to increase the amount of entrepreneurship being taught in local agriculture programs.  With this information, students will be better prepared to become entrepreneurs and will begin to perceive entrepreneurship as a viable career choice.

True entrepreneurs have several distinguishing traits that set them apart from other business owners.  They recognize opportunities that others have been overlooked, mobilize resources to pursue the opportunity, develop a strategy that includes both marketing and financial components and can make a convincing case that the business will be successful.  All qualified members are encouraged to apply.  All applications should be given to the area during award selections.  These applications are all sent to the state level selection process for review and ranking.

The state winner will be recognized on stage during Texas FFA convention in July and will receive a $100 award and plaque.  If there are more than 20 applicants the state is able to award a $50 second prize.  All applications that arrive at the state selection will be forwarded to the National FFA for review.

Ten national winners will receive $1,000 and will be honored at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN.
